I can feel it coming.

Confession: Aside from Saturday night’s pizza, I haven’t whisked or sauteed or baked a thing in the past week or so.

Nada.  Zilch.  Zip.

I haven’t served much time in the kitchen.  My cutting boards have been washed maybe once.  In other words. Who am I?

But don’t you worry, not one bit!  That irresistible craving for whisking and kneading is coming right back at me, in one full sweep.  Yep.  It won’t be long now.  And with a fridge full of produce and a $50 gift card to Whole Foods (which my friend gave me for taking pictures of her bridal shower & bachelorette,) I’m more than ready.

Because if that’s not inspiration, what is?

I have however, been all into my newest September goal of getting myself physically active in new and interesting ways.  Today was all about hiking, one of my favorite outdoor activities.

It was so humid today, Dad and I felt as if we had gone swimming after just 10 minutes into the hike.

Totally worth it though.  I seriously need to hit the trails more often.  It gets the heart rate up—just like running—and the scenery was a beautiful change of pace from my typical running route.

But anyways.  I guess, really, I simply wanted to forewarn you of all the (many) recipes to come in the very near future.

Because you can only carry on for so long without a whisk in hand, before it just doesn’t make much sense any more.

Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

QUESTION: Do you ever take a hiatus from cooking/baking?  Or are you constantly cooking something up in the kitchen?

I have been in a serious non-cooking way too! Just haven’t been feeling it lately, but think that I’ll get inspired as the weather cools down.

Glad to know others feel that way too!

I have definitely been on hiatus, too! I think all summer has been that way 😛 But I agree – the need to be in the kitchen always makes its way back if it’s something you truly enjoy 🙂 I’m feeling it, I just haven’t had the time!

I can definitely relate–whenever I visit my family at our lake house, I have ZERO desire to cook. I just like to eat the simple things–a PB J, watermelon, and some fresh veg 🙂

I go in stages — I’ll cook/bake new things for a few days, then I take a week off. When the urge comes, I just go with it, and if I don’t feel like it then I don’t!

  5. I definitely took a hiatus for the first 2 weeks after school started. We either ate out, he cooked, or I pulled all my summer meals out of the freezer. It was pathetic. Now I’m so ready for fall baking, produce, and I’m on a cupcake kick! And I should warn my readers about the pumpkin about to come out of hiding. It’s getting cool down here and I’m craving pumpkin oatmeal already.

Unluckily, I am on a permanent hiatus from cooking 😦

Sometimes I want to take a break. Haha…

Last week was my hiatus from cooking. I really had no desire to bake or cook anything. My meals were simple, requiring little clean-up and zero prep work. It was nice, but like you, I’m getting the baking itch! Gotta’ get that whisk!
