Have you ever had a moment where you learned something new and important about yourself that you didn’t even know existed (or mattered) in the first place?
Well, that was me yesterday. Only instead of having one such moment, I had dozens, all pouring in at once. I think it has something to do with the new month of August.
And so, I came to the conclusion that…
1. August isn’t going to be a major “running month.”
I thought about this a lot through July, as I realized that my long runs were growing shorter and shorter, perhaps unintentionally. Not because I didn’t want to run. I just didn’t want to train or run far. My body wanted a break. August is a good time to delve deeper into yoga and biking and kayaking and hiking! With the occasional long run too—but only if I feel like it!
2. I need to get organized.
My working/blogging spot is not exactly brimming with creative energy and colors and excitement right now. Time to get organized and create a spot where I want to be. Especially since I spend a large part of my day here, working! Eeps!
3. I want coffee.
Much like a yo-yo, I’ve had my ups and downs with coffee. I’ve sworn it out of my life for at least two times now in the past year. Why? I hate being addicted to anything. But I’ve come to the final and resting conclusion that coffee is like chocolate. Life doesn’t make sense without it.
4. I need “Me Time” every. single. night.
Work has been going well. It’s all the icky technology stuff that’s been really bogging me down. Stolen passwords and identities, computer glitches, learning new software programs. I need time to put this all behind me and forget it all. No computers, no deadlines, no calls, no requirements, no responsibilities. Time just for ME.
5. Early mornings are my favorite part of the day.
Of course, I’ve known this for a long, long time. But sometimes it’s nice to have the reminder.
The reminder to fully embrace the morning and to fully enjoy its quiet perfection.
Because sometimes life gets too busy and it’s easy to forget about the simple moments. The moments that make life so delicious.
